Edmund ""Ed"" Wahl, 91, Jamestown, North Dakota passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 14, 2006, after a life personified by quiet dignity, a belief in the goodness of mankind, a profound faith in God, and a deep devotion to his family-his beloved wife, Pearl, of almost 67 years, his two children and four grandchildren.
Edmund Wahl was born June 14, 1915, in Goodrich, North Dakota; the son of Christian and Magdalena (Goll) Wahl. He grew up on a farm near Goodrich with his brothers and sisters, was educated in a rural school, and worked with his father on the farm until 1938 when sought other opportunities in Minneapolis and, later, Nisswa, Minnesota.
On April 9, 1940, Ed and Pearl L. Bettenhausen married at Wishek, North Dakota, and returned to Nisswa where he was then living and working.
In 1942 Ed and Pearl returned to North Dakota, settling in Jamestown. He was employed at Bridgeman Russell Company in Jamestown until 1944 when he began working for Mickelson Motor and Implement and began a career for the sale and service of agricultural machinery and equipment. In 1953 he and William Rott purchased the agricultural equipment business from Douglas Mickelson and formed Wahl-Rott Implement for the sale and service of Massey-Harris, Melroe, Mayrath, and other agricultural machinery and equipment.
In 1957 Ed began working for Melroe Manufacturing, Gwinner, North Dakota, as one of its district managers. In 1975 he was made the company's Western Region Manager, in charge of sales in fifteen western states. He retired in 1982.
Ed was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Jamestown, and was active as a member of the church council and various committees for the work of the church. In his retirement he was a talented woodcarver, a casual golfer, and a sometime fisherman who enjoyed the outdoors more than catching fish.
