Edna E. Koenig, 88, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Friday, February 11, 2011 at her home in Jamestown.

Edna Labrensz was born on August 6, 1922 in Fredonia, North Dakota, the daughter of Sam and Lydia (Wolf) Labrensz. She attended rural school and grew to womanhood in the Fredonia area. On April 12, 1945 Edna married Edward Koenig, Jr. in Fredonia, by Rev. Martin Grosz. They made their home 13 miles northwest of Fredonia until March of 1957. In April they moved to Jamestown, ND, where Edna worked at Woolworth, until August 1957. They moved to Roseburg, OR in late 1957, where she worked at Mercy Hospital as an OB aid. In April of 1958, they moved back to Jamestown and she worked at Trinity Hospital in surgery until the hospital closed. In 1966 she began working at Jamestown Hospital until 1984 when she retired. She continued to make her home in Jamestown, until October of 1996 when she moved to Las Vegas, NV, with her friend, Earl Redmann. The next ten years they traveled to many countrys, making friends wherever they traveled. In 2006, they returned to Jamestown and made their home in the Meadows apartments.

Edna was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Dorcas Circle, Ladies Aid, and Homemakers.

Edna is survived by her niece, Sharon Cunningham, Westlynn, OR; sisters-in-law, Martha Labrensz, Woodburn, OR, Edna Koenig, Kulm, ND, and Erna Koenig, Modela, MN. The friendship and union of over 25 years with Earl Redmann gave Edna an extended family of 11 children, 32 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, seven additional brothers and sisters-in-law, and many more nieces and nephews. Edna being a people person, these gave her great love and happiness.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, John Labrensz; one niece, Carol Pollock; and sister-in-law, Hulda Fischer.
