Edna T. McPherson, 98, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Monday, May 19, 2008 at Ave Maria Village, formerly Central Dakota Village, in Jamestown.

Edna Theodora Graves was born September 13, 1909 in rural Woodworth, ND, the daughter of Hans H. and Tillie E. (Ova) Graves. She grew up and worked on the family farm attending the rural elementary school north of Woodworth-Conklin township. She moved to Jamestown where she attended and graduated from the Jamestown Holiness Academy in May 1929. In her senior year, she took first place in the State Oratical Contest and was awarded two pins-sponsored by the Fargo Forum. She was editor of the schools monthly news, ""Alpha & Omega."" She spent weekends traveling and singing in a ladies quartet, a highlight of those years.

Edna attended Jamestown College, earning her teaching certificate, and taught in Conklin and Wadsworth townships and in Edmonds, ND - all in Stutsman County.

She married Eugene Thomas McPherson on May 26, 1934 in Jamestown. They lived in Minneapolis, MN for two years, then to Fargo, ND for one year and back to Jamestown in 1942 where their home has been since.

Edna was a member of Evangelical United Brethern Church, where she sang in the choir, held several offices in the Ladies Circle, and for many years the chairperson of the Pastor-Parish Committee. She enjoyed being busy with the program of the church.

Mr. McPherson died on March 12, 1965. She continued living in the family home and was employed by ""Wehler's Family Shoes"" for three years and the J.C. Penney Co. for several years as a salesperson. She was also a caregiver for her mother until she died.

She sold her home and lived in a four plex apartment for 28 years. On February 1, 2002 she moved into ""The Meadows Apartment Complex"", where she enjoyed many new friends.

She loved people, to entertain, and to witness her faith in the Lord. She was a homemaker and loved to cook, bake, crochet and quilt.

Edna is survived by two sons, Marion ""Mac"" (Betty) McPherson, Jamestown and Paul McPherson, Houston, TX; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Louise Stinson, Hanford, CA and Doris Cook, Boise, ID and one son-in-law, Myron Hoeckle, Jamestown.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Pat Hoeckle; one granddaughter, Teresa McLaughlin; two brothers, Ernest Graves and Art Graves; one sister, Ida Lund and one great-grandchild.

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Friday, May 23, 2008 at First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Richard Reynolds officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, May 22, 2008 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
