Edna Odegard

Edna Odegard, 87, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Monday, February 23, 2009 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home in Jamestown.

Edna Johnson was born May 27, 1921 in rural McHenry, North Dakota, the daughter of Oliver and Julia (Arlien) Johnson. She grew up on the family farm and attended school near there. On December 3, 1944 Edna married Karl Odegard in McVille, ND. They farmed until 1957 when they moved to Sutton, ND. Edna and Karl owned and operated a service station in Sutton for many years. In 1969 they moved to Fargo, where Edna managed Park Tower Apartments. After Karl's death on September 14, 1991, Edna moved to Jamestown. She entered Hi-Acres Manor in 2002.

Edna loved and cared for people. She enjoyed playing cards and playing jokes on her many friends. She will be deeply missed and remembered by her family.

Edna is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Sigurd and Sharon Odegard, Jamestown; two grandchildren, Shane (Jessica) Odegard, Tipton, IA, and Stacey (John) Rudolph, Grand Forks, ND; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; four brothers, James, Martin, Ole and Alvin; and five sisters, Gudrie Lee, Luella Olson, Inga Bolken, Olga Bolken, and Jennet Usgaard.

Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 26, 2009 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, with Rev. Herb Flitton officiating.

Visitation: 12:00 to 5:00 PM, Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at the Eddy Funeral Home.

Burial in the spring: McVille Cemetery, McVille, North Dakota
