Edward Benson

Edward Benson, 75, Jamestown, ND, died Saturday, June 23, 2007 at Central Dakota Village, Jamestown, ND.
Edward Marvin Benson was born February 8, 1932 on the family farm in Deer Lake Township near Windsor, ND, the son of Gilbert and Clara (Skare) Benson. He was raised on the family farm and attended the township school. After his schooling he worked on the farm until 1954 when he entered the United States Army and served in Korea. When he was discharged in 1956, he returned to Windsor, ND and worked building grain elevators in many areas of North Dakota including Bottineau. On July 3, 1958, he married Shirley Thorson at Hampden, ND and they settled in Jamestown, ND. He worked as a carpenter and in the late 1970's started his own carpentry business. He enjoyed woodworking, spending time with his family and friends and playing with his grandchildren.
Edward was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND, the Jamestown VFW and American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley, Jamestown, ND; 4 children: Kevin (Shelley) Benson, Jamestown, ND; Roger (Kay) Benson, Jamestown, ND; Julie (Corey) Michel, Jamestown, ND; Kyle, Jamestown, ND; 7 grandchildren: Eric Benson, Ryan Benson, Aaron Benson, Cody Benson, Natasha Benson, Caitlin Michel, Allison Michel, Jamestown, ND; 2 brothers: Burton (Verlyn) Benson, Jamestown, ND and Gilbert (Delphine) Benson, Jamestown, ND; 3 sisters: Freda Telken, Jamestown, ND; Myrtle Schutt, Jamestown, ND; and Pearl Pruess, Mesa, AZ and 2 half-brothers, Kenneth Benson, Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Benny Benson, Decorah, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, Arnold and 2 sisters, Gladys Thelen and Lillian Rowell.
Funeral - 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND
Prayer Service - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND
Visitation - 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at Lisko Funeral Chapel and 1 hour prior services at the church on Wednesday.
Interment - Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, ND
