Edward Martin, 83, Robinson, North Dakota, died Thursday, September 16, 2010 at his home.
Edward was born August 4, 1927 at Lake Williams, North Dakota, the son of Fredrick and Caroline (Veil) Martin. He attended grade school in Frettim township. Edward enlisted in the US Army in 1947 and was honorably discharged in 1949. He returned to the Robinson area and worked for various area farmers. On April 11, 1954 Edward married Joann Nelson in Robinson. In 1957 he went to work at Whitman's Inc, at Lake Williams, ND until 1966, at which time he took over the family farm. He farmed until his retirement in 1993, and continued to live on the family farm until his passing.
Edward was a member of Tri-County Electric Board for 16 years, Robinson School Board, Frettim Township Board, and the Bethany Lutheran Church Board. He enjoyed bowling, dancing, fishing and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Edward is survived by his wife, Joann, Robinson; four children, Charlene (Eugene) Guthmiller, Pettibone, ND, Ron (JoAnn) Martin, Steele, ND, Marlene (Dan) Wolf, Carrington, ND and Neal Martin, Bismarck, ND; eight grandchildren, Janell Lynne, Jeremy Guthmiller, Jenni Yoder, Landyn Wolf, Jordan Wolf, Braden Martin, Jayden Guthmiller and Shalee Martin; two great-grandchildren, Isabella Yoder and Brynlee Wolf; three sisters, Alvina (Aesoph) Schulz, Louise (Pete) Roerick and Anna (Clarence) Woodward, all of Jamestown; sister-in-law, Gladys Martin, Bismarck, ND; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Leonard; two sisters, Loretta Hoff and Rebecca Bertsch.
