Edward G Schlosser

Edward Gustav Schlosser, 85, died at Golden Acres Manor, Carrington on Thursday, April 23, 2015 after a 2 year battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome. Ed was born on May 7th, 1929 in Kensal, ND to John Schlosser and Bertha (Guenther) Schlosser. He attended school in Kensal, graduating in 1947. Ed served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956, spending time in Germany. After returning home he married Delores Fern Fried on November 24th, 1956. Ed and Delores moved to Spiritwood, ND after their marriage, farming there until retiring in 1990, then working 5 years as the janitor at Spiritwood Public School. Ed was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and enjoyed working with friends and neighbors. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Jamestown, serving on many boards. His love for working with youth showed during his 35 years as a 4-H leader and 15 years with the DeMolay and Rainbow Chapters. He was also on the Spiritwood School Board for 28 years, serving as president for 5 years. Ed was a Mason and member of the Order of Eastern Star. He also loved to dance, play cards, hunt, fish, and put puzzles together. He was a dedicated woodworker. His passion was making and giving crosses to many people in the U.S. and around the world. He built crosses for churches in North Dakota, Wisconsin, and Florida. Ed is survived by his wife Delores; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Michele Schlosser, Jamestown, ND and Leon, Nicaragua; daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Jeff Topp of Grace City, ND; daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Duane Domek of Wibaux, MT; and sister Carol Weinrich of Brookings, SD; grandchildren: John Schlosser & Jaimie of Portland, OR; Jennifer (Schlosser) and Clarence Sitter of Medora, ND; Sarah Schlosser of Selby, SD; Jason Topp, Justin and Amanda Topp, and Jessie Topp all of Grace City, ND; Seth and Sarah Domek and Austin and Jenny Domek all of Wibaux, MT; great-grandchildren: Scarlet Schlosser; Kaitlyn, Laura, Megan and David Sitter; Jackson and Josie Topp; Ethan Domek; and Halle and Cy Domek. He is preceded in death by his parents Jack and Bertha; sister Arlene Wolsky; and sisters and brother-in laws Winifred and Nick Ptucha; and Coleen and Meiny Flemmer.

The funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Jamestown, ND at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday May 2nd. A visitation time with family will be held at the family farm on Friday evening May 1st from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. near Spiritwood, ND. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer sending memorials to the ND 4-H Foundation, Faith Revealed an international mission outreach serving the people of Nicaragua, or First United Methodist Church.
