Edwin Gartner, 92, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Sunday, November 14, 2004 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home, Jamestown.

Edwin was born January 14, 1912 in Upham, North Dakota, the son of Christ and Sophia (Natham) Gartner. He grew up and attended school in the Upham area. On October 27, 1938, Ed married Lenora Herrmann in Upham.

Ed entered the U.S. Air Force on March 31, 1944 in Ft. Snelling, MN and served his country during World War II. He was discharged on May 2, 1946, having obtained the rank of Corporal. Ed worked for the Farmers Union Oil Company and later became manager. He retired in 1967.

Ed was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, ND Farmers Union, the Retired Mangers Assn., VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed gardening.

Ed is survived by his wife, Lenora, Jamestown, five children, Chet (Carol) Gartner, Jamestown; Dorothy Focht, Mansfield, OH; Dennis (Linda) Gartner, Moorhead, MN; Gary (Elsie) Gartner, Sacramento, CA; Warren (CeCe) Gartner, Gilbert, AZ, 13 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, one brother, Reubin Gartner, Washington and one sister, Irma Tobin, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Calvin; four brothers, Albert, Herbert, Art and Bill and one sister, Lydia Sutter.

Funeral Service: 1:30 PM, Thursday, November 18, 2004 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Rev. Doug Opp officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at the Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
