Edwin H. Holzworth

Edwin H. Holzworth, 82, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Sunday, November 18, 2007 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home in Jamestown.

Edwin was born December 23, 1924 in Jamestown, the son of Jacob and Katherine (Klooz) Holzworth. He attended Jamestown High School, then moved to Wyoming and worked on a ranch for one year. He returned to Jamestown and on May 13, 1943 Edwin joined the US Army. He was stationed in New Guinea for two years and was honorably discharged on January 8, 1946. On July 31, 1946 Edwin married Donna Wahl in Jamestown. Edwin worked for the railroad, Foremost Dairy Products, bartended at the Wonder Bar and managed the American Legion. He also worked at Quality Lumber until it closed and then in 1973 he owned and operated the Yellow Cab Service in Jamestown for 10 years. At his retirement he was working at the ND State Hospital in Forensics and in the Adolescent Center.

Edwin was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting deer and pheasant, trapping and antiquing.

Edwin is survived by eight children: Ray (Joyce) Holzworth and Ron (Annamae) Holzworth, both of Menahga, MN, Valerie (Conrad) Miller, Edwin E. (Mary Kay) Holzworth, Sharon (Terry) Exner, Robert Holzworth, Sue (Dan) Koropatnicki and Pamela Holzworth, all of Jamestown; a foster daughter, Jan Renken, Sioux Falls, SD; 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

He wa preceded in death by his wife; parents; four brothers and eight sisters.

Memorial Service: 10:30 AM, Friday, November 23, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel with Chaplain David Fisher officiating.

No visitation is scheduled.

Burial at a later date: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
