Edwin Mitzel

Edwin Mitzel, 81, Jamestown, North Dakota passed away on Monday, August 11, 2014 at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Edwin Mitzel was born on July 5, 1933 in Hazelton, ND, to Henry and Amila (Lautermilch) Mitzel. Edwin attended the Grafton Developmental Center starting May 26, 1938 at four years of age. He grew up and resided there until May 24, 1993 when he moved to Jamestown, ND. He entered into a new chapter in his life when he became affiliated with Alpha Opportunities INC. He attended the Alpha Opportunities Training Center Day Activities program. Edwin retired in October 2010.

Edwin was baptized on July 29, 1990 at All Faith?s Chapel.

Edwin was a man who liked music. He liked to listen to Country music, attending out of town Polka music events with his friends. Edwin enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and going for walks. When he couldn?t be outside he would like to sit in front of the window looking outdoors watching the activities in the neighbourhood. Edwin?s other favourite activities included rocking in his recliner or his wheelchair, eating out, afternoon naps and listening to stories about the old times as well as the current events.

Edwin very much enjoyed the companionship of his staff as well his special friend Linda and Keren. He showed his affection for others by reaching out to put his arm around you when you were standing or sitting by him. Edwin will be missed by all who had the opportunity to be part of his life.

Edwin is survived by his niece Judy Gleich, Jamestown and Nancy Tongate, WA.

He is survived by his sister Elsie Tongate.

Funeral Services will be held at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown ND at 2 PM on Thursday, August 14, 2014. Visitation will be 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Wednesday, August 13 at Eddy Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, ND.
