Elaine Braun Allen, 82, Jamestown, ND, died Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford.

Elaine was born August 13, 1926, in Jamestown, the daughter of Edward and Pearl (Bush) Braun. She grew up and attended rural school near Edmunds, high school in Carrington, then college at Jamestown College. She taught school before marrying Merle Allen on March 18, 1949. They farmed in the Pingree area before moving to a farm north of Windsor in 1954. She was an active farming partner, engaging in every aspect of the business until they moved to Jamestown in 1975, where Elaine spent many hours enjoying a backyard retreat growing every kind of perennial and annual. She loved her family, flower gardening, landscaping, crafts, scrapbooking, traveling and working on the farm. On May 29, 2008, she moved into the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd at New Rockford.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Merle, Jamestown; four sons, Gene (Bev) Allen, Jud, ND, Monte (Nancy) Allen, Willcox, AZ, Mike (Dione) Allen, Windsor, ND and Marvin (Emily) Allen, Pingree, ND; one daughter, Connie (Oren) Krapp, Jamestown; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; six sisters, Mildred Bata, Bismarck, ND, Eleanor Schweitzer, Saint Onge, SD, Lillian Thiesen, Bozeman, MT, Lily Krogfoss, Great Falls, MT, Leona Braun, Edmunds, ND, Anna Lindberg, Litchfield, MN; and three brothers, Andrew Braun, Edmunds, ND, Robert Braun, Jamestown, ND, and Walter Braun, Benton City, WA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, including her twin sister, Eilene Moxness.

Funeral Service: 10:00 AM, Monday, December 29, 2008 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Jamestown, with Rev. Gary Ball-Kilbourne and Pastor Debra Lommen officiating.

Visitation: 2:00 to 7:00 PM, Sunday, December 28, 2008 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.

Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Sunday, December 28, 2008 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.

Burial: North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford, ND or the Alzheimers Association of North Dakota.
