Elaine (Hushka) Dobitz passed away on Friday, August 24, 2018 at her son, Doug’s, home in Viroqua, WI, surrounded by her family.
Elaine was born on April 6, 1938 on the family farm in Dunn County. She was the daughter of John A. and Pauline (Berger) Hushka. Elaine lived on the family farm until the fourth grade when the family moved to Dickinson, ND. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School through the eighth grade and then Dickinson Central High graduating in 1956. After graduation, Elaine was employed by Britton Jewelers in Dickinson and later Seaboard Finance Co. working in their Dickinson, Bismarck, and Minot offices.
On September 26, 1964 Elaine was united in marriage with Herb Dobitz. After their marriage, she was employed by the First National Bank in Dickinson for six years. She became a stay-at-home mom until 1984 when she became employed by the Jamestown Public School System.
Elaine was a member of the St. James Basilica in Jamestown, served on the Parish Council, was President of the Religious Education Board, President of the Tabernacle, and was as a Eucharist Minister. She enjoyed golfing and served as the President of the ladies association. Motorcycle riding with Herb was one of the highlights of their years together.
Elaine’s family was very important to her, she loved them dearly. Her grandchildren were a great part of her life, each one was special in their own way.
Elaine would like to thank her special friends, Doreen Larson, Mary Sargeant, Betty Hanson, and Skip Olson for their support and care they shared with her.
Elaine is survived by one son, Doug (Cyndi) Dobitz, of Viroqua, WI, her daughter, Julie (Ben) Roeder of Portland, OR, grandchildren; Cody Dobitz, Brittany Dobitz, Katie Dobitz, Melissa Dobitz, Dylan Dobitz, Kayla Dobitz, Jacob Roeder, and Jaden Roeder, brother, Floyd (Adeline) Hushka, sisters; Betty (Nick) Wock of Whitehall, MT, Edith Norton of Dickinson, Polly Nault, Sheldon Wash, and Alice Hushka of Dickinson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Herb, brothers; Andrew, John, and Johnny, sisters; Mary and Phyllis.
Memorials are preferred to the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND, the Roger Maris Cancer Clinic, or the Red River Valley Hospice.
Funeral Service: 9:00 AM, Friday, August 31, 2018 at the St. James Basilica.
Visitation: 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Eddy Funeral Home.
Vigil Service: 7:00 PM, Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Eddy Funeral Home.
Interment: 1:00 PM, Friday, August 31, 2018 at the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
