Elaine Mabel Grahn, 64, Carrington, North Dakota died Sunday, July 15, 2007 at the Carrington Health Center.

Elaine Walker was born August 5, 1942 in Corrine township, near Courtenay, ND, the daughter of Joe and Gladys (Backer) Walker. She grew up on the family farm with her two brothers and one sister. She attended Corrine and Courtenay schools, graduating from Courtenay High School in 1960. In September 1960 Elaine began work at the First James River Bank in Jamestown as a bookkeeper. She also ran the proof machine, was promoted to head bookkeeper and then to main teller.

On October 12, 1962 Elaine married Allyn Grahn. They moved to Alice, ND in 1966 where she worked at the Peoples and Enderlin State Bank as teller and proof operator. In 1968 they moved to Carrington and Elaine began work at the Foster County State Bank as a bookkeeper-teller. Over the years she was promoted several times and became an officer in October 1979. Elaine retired from Bremer Bank on August 30, 1997. On September 2, 1997 she continued her banking career with Security State Bank of North Dakota in Carrington and was currently working for Bank Forward in Carrington. She supervised many departments and saw many changes over her many years in the banking industry. She liked the many challenges banking provided and especially enjoyed the customers and her fellow employees.

Elaine enjoyed square dancing and even tagged along on some hunting and fishing trips with her husband. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Carrington.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Allyn, of Carrington; one sister, Jolyne (Tommy) Wegner, Alfred, ND; nieces and nephews, Larinda (Rick) Velure, Kathryn, ND, Timothy (Jennie) Walker, Jamestown, Joe (Karen) Walker, West Fargo, ND, Robert (Renette) Walker, Mililani Town, HI, Todd Wegner, Alfred, ND and Christi Jo (Troy) Nelson, West Fargo, ND and all her grand nieces and nephews that were dear to her heart, Tyson, Brent, Chelsey, Jasen, Eric, Cameron, Mitchell, Janessa, Kayla, Maranda, Devin, Allison, Ethan and Nicole.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John and George and a sister in infancy, Eileen Kay.

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Saturday, July 21, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Carrington, ND with Rev. Bruce Vold officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 7:30 PM, Friday, July 20, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND.

Prayer Service: 7:30 PM, Friday, July 20, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, North Dakota.
