Elaine Schmuhl

Elaine Schmuhl, 90, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Farmstead Care in Moorhead, MN.

Elaine JoAnn Christ Schmuhl was born January 31, 1932 in rural Wimbledon, ND to Robert Sr., and Mabel Christ. She was raised on the farmstead near Wimbledon, ND and Leal, ND.  She had two brothers and one sister.  Elaine attended grade school and high school at Uxbridge School and Jamestown College where she studied Arts.

Elaine worked at different places; Woolworths, Farmer’s Union Ins., baked for Wolf’s Grocery and did Welcome Wagon.  She helped out at the Stutsman County Fair in the home and living area at the 4-H building for many years.

She married the love of her life, Herman R. Schmuhl on October 2, 1953.  Together they had one son Brian Robert Schmuhl who was born on December 7, 1954.  They lived in Jamestown, ND all their lives until they moved to Farmstead Care in Moorhead, MN.  Elaine enjoyed baking, arts, crafts, ceramics, animals and gardening.

Elaine is survived by: Brian R. (Darla) Schmuhl, Jamestown, ND, Hope Schmuhl, Jamestown, ND, Nick Schmuhl, Leonard, ND, Steve Schmuhl, Fargo, ND, Kevin (Terri) Schmuhl, Glencoe, MN and Ileah (Beau) Sylvester, Idaho City, ID; 12 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Robert and Richard Christ, one sister Virginia Peterson and her husband Herman R. Schmuhl.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at 7th Day Adventist Church, Jamestown, ND with Pastor Peter Simpson officiating.  Burial will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan, ND.
