Elda Hulda (Rewald) Brunsch, age 97, passed away July 16, 2021 in Jamestown, ND where she was in the care of Hospice at Ave Maria Village.
Elda was born July 6, 1924 near Woodworth, ND in Wadsworth Township to Alfred and Hulda (Leapaldt) Rewald. Elda was baptized and confirmed at New Home Lutheran Church, rural Woodworth. She attended country school through 8th grade.
Elda married Eduard Brunsch on June 20, 1946 at New Home Lutheran Church. Elda and Ed made their home on the farm near Woodworth where they raised their four children. Elda enjoyed gardening, reading, crossword puzzles and games, crocheting, embroidering and sewing clothes for her children as well as many quilts for family and church. After the children left home, Elda took up oil painting which she very much enjoyed. Elda also was active in her church belonging to LWML, teaching Sunday School, and was organist for many years before retiring at the age of 90.
Elda continued to live on the farm after the death of Ed in 1989. For a number of years, she spent the winters in an apartment in Woodworth then eventually moved in full-time. In 2016, Elda moved into Poplar Court in Carrington, ND where she resided until moving into Edgewood Assisted Living in Jamestown. Elda entered Ave Maria Village in March 2018.
Elda is survived by her four children: Fern (Delmer) Sukut, Gackle, ND; Linda Williams, West Salem, WI; Dale (Bev) Brunsch Woodworth, ND; and Carol (Donald) Campbell, Hannaford, ND; nine grandchildren: April (Matt) Heinle, Bruce (Julie) Sukut, Brenda Williams, Brad Williams, Bryana (Corey) Farvel, Darrell (Devi) Brunsch, Melanie Brunsch, Julie (Nick) Staloch, Crystal (Kyle) Bosch. Ten great-grandchildren, Aidan and Ellis Heinle; Finley, Gabriel and Everly Sukut; Emma and Edward Brunsch; Bella Staloch; Claire and Decker Bosch.
Elda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Eduard, siblings: Ewald, Leno, Ella and foster sister, Elsie Schabary, son-in-law Tom Williams, and grandson, Brett Campbell.
Funeral Service: 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Woodworth, with Pastor Robert Hill officiating.
Burial: New Home Cemetery, Woodworth.
Arrangements are in the care of Eddy Funeral Home.
