Elda Swanson

Elda Swanson, 74, Lincoln, Nebraska, formerly of Jamestown, ND, died Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Tabitha Nursing Rehabilitation Center in Lincoln.

Elda Wahl was born December 27, 1933 in McClusky, North Dakota to Jacob and Ida (Hieb) Wahl. On May 28, 1949 she married Arthur Monroe Swanson. They lived in Jamestown, North Dakota until Arthur passed away from cancer in 1996. Elda has been a longstanding and active member of the First Baptist Church in Jamestown. When she relocated to Lincoln, Nebraska in 2004, she faithfully attended the First Free Evangelical Free Church.

Elda's first priority was always her family and she was a committed mother to five children. Karen (John) Beyers, Anchorage, AK, Gail (Roger) Opp, Denton, Neb., Wayne (Doreen) Swanson, Henderson, Nev., Vickie Swanson, Lake Stevens, WA and Lori (Daniel) Jass, Lino Lakes, MN. She is also survived by eleven loving grandchildren, Jason Opp, Lisa Hastings, Kerry Schortzman, Nicole Williams, Rachel Tomanek, Jackie Cech, Brooke Groh, Brianna Bryant, Tyler Jass, Jordan Jass, and Kianna Jass; sixteen great-grandchildren, Hudson and Adelyn Opp, Reid Hastings, Ashyln, Jaidyn, Trinity and Bridyn Schortzman, Cole, Ian and Paige Remillong, Olivia and Jaxon Tomanek, Payton and Trey Cech, Arianna Groh and Brayden and McKenzie Bryant; four brothers, Arnold, Leland, Jack and Melvin Wahl; one sister, Evelyn.

Elda was preceded in death by her husband and siblings, Elsie, Francis, Roy, Elaine and Donna.

Funeral Service: Were held at 1:00 PM, Sunday, June 1, 2008 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, North Dakota with Pastor John Beyers, officiating.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
