Elinore Leola Edwardson Block passed away peacefully in her sleep at Eventide in Jamestown on July 31, 2022. Elinore was born on May 16, 1929, in Carrington ND to Olaf Martin and Willet Eugenia (Bonnie) Carlon Edwardson. She grew up in Nordmore Township in Foster County. She was baptized and confirmed at Kvernes Lutheran Church in Carrington. She received her early education at Nordmore Township Country School and attended Carrington High School graduating with honors in 1947.
Elinore married Norbert Block on April 2, 1948, in Vancouver, Washington. After living in Washington and California, they moved back to North Dakota settling in Jamestown. To that union, 9 children were born. She considered her main occupation as a wife, and mother, and she provided daycare for others for many years. Her home was always filled with the laughter of children and the smell of something cooking or baking. She found time to work various part-time positions and was instrumental in starting RB Tree Service with her husband and son Roger. She held a Master Gardener Certificate and could be found working part-time in many area garden shops. Elinore also spent time as a Girl Scout Leader, a Sunday School Teacher, and a past Commander and Treasurer of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary for many years. In her free time, she enjoyed crafts, embroidery, crotchet, and music.
She is survived by her children, Linda (Tom) Ray of Jamestown ND, Marilyn (Shelby) Flaig of Bismarck ND, Jerome Block of Jamestown ND, Gloria (Ross) Burkhardt of Phoenix AZ, Susan Johnson of Fargo ND, Brian (Tracy) Block of Jamestown ND, Daughter-in-Laws Sheila and Kathy Block of Jamestown, ND, her 14 grandchildren, her 21 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, brother Eugene (Clara) Edwardson of Carrington ND, and sisters Myrna Gullion and Nancy (Gary) Manuel both of Houston TX. She was preceded in death by her husband Norbert (Bob), her sons Gary, Douglas, Roger, Son-in-Law John Johnson, brother Martin Edwardson, and brother-in-law Steve Gullion
Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM, Sunday, August 7, 2022 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, ND. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Monday, August 8 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND with Pastor Susan Haukaas officiating. Interment will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
