Elizabeth Aberle, 98, Edgeley, ND died at Wishek Home For The Aged, Wishek, ND on Wednesday, November 22, 2006.
Elizabeth Gross was born on the family farm in Logan County near Napoleon, ND on June 1, 1908, the daughter of Mathias and Barbara (Schweitzer) Gross. She attended country school and was raised on the farm. She married Mike Aberle at St. Anthony Catholic Church rural Napoleon on November 3, 1928. They farmed in Emmons County from 1928 until 1936. In 1936 they moved to Berlin where they farmed and she served as a member of the Wano Township School Board for many years. They retired from farming and moved to Fargo in 1957. In 1967 they retired and moved to Myrtle Creek, Oregon for a year and then returned to live at Edgeley. Mike died in August, 1984. Elizabeth entered Wishek Home for the Aged in 1994.
Survivors include 2 sons, Richard (Lorraine), Edgeley, ND and Myron (Jane), Walker, Iowa; 4 daughters, Christina (John) Long, Berlin, ND, Imelda Long, Mandan, ND, Theresa (Donald) Davis, Moorhead, MN, and Marcie (Gary) Neuman, Kent, WA; 1 son-in-law Richard Schmidt, Myrtle Creek, Oregon; 35 grandchildren, 73 great grandchildren, 24 great great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Benedicta (Ray) Kotta, Roseau, MN and Barbara Brendel, Napoleon, ND. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Lillian Schmidt, granddaughter Sheryl Schmidt Leming, son-in-law Clement Long, several great grandchildren, one brother John M. Gross and 3 sisters Christina Vetter, Eva Schatz and Kathryn Aberle.
Elizabeth was an active member of the Catholic Church. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed crocheting, playing cards and singing.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 27, 2006 at Transfiguration Catholic Church, Edgeley, ND with Father Duaine Cote presiding.
Vigil Service: 7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 26, 2006 at Transfiguration Church.
Visitation: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Edgeley and one hour prior to services in the church on Monday.
Interment: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Edgeley, ND.
