Elizabeth Doyle

June 9, 1945 — August 22, 2024

Elizabeth “Liz” J. Doyle, 79, of Jamestown, formerly Wimbledon, ND, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2024, in her home.

Liz was born on June 9, 1945, to Jack and Anna (Wulff) Neva. She grew up in and around Kensal and graduated from Kensal High School.

Liz lived in Kensal, Courtenay, Wimbledon, and Jamestown, ND. She worked for the United States Postal Service for over 32 years. She began working as a clerk in the Jamestown and Courtenay offices. She became a Postmaster working in Wimbledon and Lisbon office.

On July 29, 1977, Liz married Leon Doyle. They resided in Wimbledon, ND with their daughters Michelle and Annette. Upon retirement they moved to Jamestown, ND to be closer to family.

Liz enjoyed going to auctions and rummage sales, usually finding good “merchandise”. Liz spent time watching her girls in sporting events and other high school activities when they were younger. Liz liked baseball with her favorite team being the Chicago Cubs. Liz loved her many adventures with family and friends. Her family and friends were always in her heart and on her mind.

Liz’s pride and joy was her grandson, Jimmy. He was the light of her life. It did not take much for Jimmy to have Grammy bring him something, pick him up to go someplace, or to go dumpster diving come clean up week. Liz would often call just to say good night to Jimmy and if she didn’t, he would call her half asleep to say good night to her and grandpa. From day one of Jimmy and Lizzy’s relationship she told him, “I love you to the moon and back” and “I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck, neck, neck” and hug like crazy.

God determines the amount of time a loved one is in our lives…long or short. Those left behind always feel it is too short a time. None of us were prepared for the short time Liz was with us here on earth, but we can be grateful she is still in our hearts and continuing to watch over every single person she loved.

Liz is survived by her husband, Leon Doyle, her daughters Michelle (Brent) Doyle, Annette Doyle, grandson, Jimmy, sister Shirley (Darwin) Hoggarth, many nieces and nephews, and so many special friends and loved ones that were close to her heart.

Liz was preceded in death by her parents, Anna (Wulff) and Jack Neva, siblings Jack Neva, Nadine Johnson, Bob Neva, Margaret VanDyke, Bill Neva, several nieces and nephews and dear friends who met her at the gates of Heaven.

In lieu of flowers, our family request that you donate to a charity or special organization that is close to your heart. Liz loved flowers but would rather have the money go towards helping others.
