Elizabeth Peda, 79, Remsen, IA, formerly of Woodworth, N.D. died Tuesday, September 10, 2002 after a lengthy illness from Alzheimer's disease and cancer.

Elizabeth Koenig was born September 15, 1922 in rural Woodworth, N.D., the daughter of William and Augusta (Haupt) Koenig. She was raised in the Woodworth area and received her education in the rural school.

Liz married Alfred Peda on November 6, 1941 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Woodworth. They made their home near Woodworth where they were engaged in farming. They retired on the farm in 1982 and in 1984 they began spending their winters in Arizona until 1998. On July 16, 2001 Liz entered the Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen, Iowa and Alfred moved to Remsen in September of 2001.

She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Lutheran Ladies Aid and she taught Sunday School for a number of years. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Liz is survived by her husband, Alfred Peda, of Remsen, IA; two daughters and their husbands, Angie and Jerry Alvey, of LeMars, IA; Deb and Marty Ritzman, of Casper, WY; five grandchildren, Scott Alvey, of Plano, TX, Dave and his wife Alicia Alvey, of Henderson, NV; Damon and his wife, Linda Alvey of Scotland, SD; Theron and his wife Jill Ritzman, of Laramie, WY; Danielle Ritzman, of Casper, WY; six great grandchildren, Chris, Zack, and Amanda Alvey, Ashley and Amber Alvey, Zayne Ritzman; one brother, Paul and his wife Eileen Koenig, of Woodworth, N.D.; three sisters-in-law, Elsie Koenig, of Woodworth, N.D.; Agnes Koenig, of Woodworth, N.D.; Elda Koenig, of Jamestown, N.D.; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Carl, Otto and his wife Reneta, William and Fred Koenig; and one sister and her husband, Emma and Len Fish.

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. - Saturday, September 14, 2002 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Woodworth, N.D. with Rev. Mark Schlamann officiating.

Visitation: Friday, September 13, 2002 1:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, N.D.

Burial: Gem Cemetery - Woodworth, N.D.
