Ella Vellenga Dekrey

September 17, 1909 — November 3, 2002

Ella (Vellenga) DeKrey, 93, Jamestown, N.D., formerly of Pettibone, N.D. and Valley City, N.D., died Sunday, November 3, 2002 at Central Dakota Nursing Home in Jamestown, N.D.

Ella Vellenga was born September 17, 1909 on a farm in Weiser Township, Kidder County, the daughter of Bouke and Tryntge (Hofstra) Vellenga. She grew up and received her education in Weiser Township.

Ella married William DeKrey on May 20, 1931 at Malcom Congregational Church in Pettibone, N.D. They farmed the family farm until retiring in 1977. They continued to make their home on the farm until moving to Valley City in 1984 where they made their home. Mr. DeKrey died on December 23, 1992.

Ella was a life long member of the Weiser Homemakers Club, a active member of Malcolm Congregational Church, taught Sunday School, and was a member of the Easter Star Chapter 119 at Steele, N.D.

Ella is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Ila DeKrey, of Valley City, N.D.; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Harley Reich, of Cleveland, N.D; 13 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and one brother, David (Alice) Vellenga, of Portland, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter Jeane Nelson, three sisters, and four brothers.

Funeral Service: 1:30 P.M. - Saturday, November 9, 2002, at Eddy Funeral Chapel - Jamestown, N.D., with Rev. Pamela Moeller officiating.

Visitation: Friday, November 8, 2002 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, N.D.

Burial: Weiser Cemetery - Pettibone, North Dakota
