Ella was born on October 14, 1915 in Venturia, ND, the daughter of Peter Johann and Katherina (Wolff Schaible) Giedt. In 1919 the family moved to the Lehr, ND area, in 1930 they moved to the Gackle area. In 1937 Ella married Fred Geigle. He was killed in 1944 while working for the railroad leaving her to raise their four boys. While raising her boys in Jamestown she worked as a dental technician for Dr. Fergusson then later for the ND State Hospital. She was also a seamstress and cook. In 1951 she married Paul Haney, Sr. In 1966 she and son, Paul, Jr. moved to Spokane, WA to take a position as a dental technician at the VA Hospital there, later moving to the Seattle area VA Hospital. In 1981 she married George Wolff, he passed away in 1983.
All her life she had been interested in art, so after retiring she took up painting and became a very accomplished artist in oils and watercolor. Several of her paintings were sold in the Seattle area galleries. In her mid seventies she chaperoned college students from a local college to Russia and Germany and visited places where her father had lived before immigrating to America. She enjoyed her condo in Edmonds and especially being able to spend time with Erik, Bryan and Mariah and her newest great-granddaughter, Nyah, who all live in the Seattle area.
