Ella F. Zimmerman, 97, Mesa, Arizona formerly of Jamestown, North Dakota died Sunday, September 1, 2002 at Neely Hospice House, Gilbert, Arizona.
Ella F. Kempf was born August 20, 1905 at Kulm, North Dakota, the daughter of Fred and Justina (Brost) Kempf. She grew up and attended school at Kulm High School, graduating in 1922. She attended Mayville State College graduating in 1924 with a teaching certificate. She taught school in Kulm, N.D. for eight years.
She married John R. Zimmerman on June 15, 1932 at Detriot Lakes, Minnesota. They lived at Kulm until 1948 when they moved to Jamestown, North Dakota. She helped start the Stutsman County Book Mobile and help run the Book Mobile for many years. She enjoyed embroidery, knitting dish clothes, and reading.
Ella was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, Women's Fellowship in Jamestown and was past president of the Singles Club in Mesa, AZ.
Ella is survived by a son, Delano Zimmerman, of Grand Forks, N.D.; a daughter, Jonelle (William) Griffin, of Mesa, AZ; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, step father (Charles Pfeiffer), husband, and two brothers.
Funeral Service: 2:00 P.M. - Friday, September 6, 2002 at First Congregational United Church of Christ, Jamestown, N.D., with Rev. Terri Akkerman officiating.
Visitation: Friday, September 6, 2002 one prior to Service at the Church.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery - Jamestown, N.D.
