Elmer Anderson

Elmer L. Anderson, 97, Jamestown, North Dakota died Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at Central Dakota Village Nursing Home in Jamestown.

Elmer was born May 1, 1910 at Driscoll, ND, the son of Hans and Anna (Taasevigen) Anderson. Elmer graduated from Dawson High School and attended North Dakota State University in Fargo the years of 1930 & 1931. He married Velma Woessner in Bismarck, ND on May 10, 1934. They made their home in Dawson, Mandan and Jamestown.

Elmer was employed by Standard Oil Company from 1935 to 1938. In 1942 he spent a year working on an air base in the British West Indies. The years of 1938 to 1975 he was employed by Northern Pacific Railroad & Burlington Northern Railroad. He retired as a conductor on April 30, 1975. After retirement they spent their winters in Arizona and summers at their cabin on Jamestown Reservoir. Their cabin has been a setting for many family reunions first instigated by their son, Scott. Elmer enjoyed a lifetime of hunting with his sons and friends.

Elmer is survived by a daughter, Sharon (Bob) Moen, Marana, AZ; a son, Dean (Jackie) Anderson, Jamestown; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a son-in-law, Don Greenlund, Reno, NV and a 107 year old sister, Mabel Carigan of Bismarck, ND.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Rosemary Anderson; a daughter, LuAnne Greenlund; five brothers; two sisters; and a special friend, Borgelle Britsch.

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Saturday, February 2, 2008 at the United Presbyterian Church, Jamestown, with Pastor David Thompson officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, February 1, 2008 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
