Elmer Ernie, 85, of Jamestown, North Dakota died Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Hi-Acres Manor in Jamestown.

Elmer was born in Edgeley, ND on October 13, 1923 to Fred and Clara (Beug) Ernie. They moved to rural Wimbledon, ND where he attended school through the eighth grade. He then moved to Eckelson, ND where he graduated in 1942. Following school he moved to the farm by Leal, ND. He shoveled coal in Jamestown for the Northern Pacific Railway in the 1940s and later drove cab in 1950 and 1951. He was united in marriage to June Limesand on February 11, 1951. They lived on the farm by Leal until 2003 when they moved to Jamestown. They were blessed with three children. He farmed for 50 years, drove bus for Wimbledon School for 22 years, belonged to the Eagles in Valley City, ND and served as president, and was a member of the Classic Car Club in Jamestown. He is survived by his wife, June of Jamestown; his children, Janelle (Stroud) Hollinshead of Rogers, ND, Ardella (Donnie) Bronson of Breckenridge, MN, and Odean (Cathy) Ernie of Colorado Springs, CO; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his brother-in-law and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Clarice and his grandson, Eric.

Funeral Services: 1:00 pm, Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND with Rev. Thomas Eckstein officiating.

Visitation: Monday, December 8, 2008 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, ND.

Prayer Service: Monday, December 8, 2008 at 7:00 PM at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, ND

Burial: Prairie View Cemetery, Wimbledon, ND
