Elmer Fisher died Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at Hi-Acres Manor in Jamestown, ND.
Elmer Clifford Fisher, 81, was born July 2, 1924 at the family farm near Goldwyn, ND, the son of Albert and Anna (Hochstetter) Fisher. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school in Paris Township. He worked on the farm until 1943 when he entered the U.S. Army and was stationed at Camp Roberts, California. Upon his discharge from the Army in April 1944, he returned to Jamestown and married Helen Lorraine Holzworth on May 19, 1944. They lived near Woodworth for several years where Elmer worked for Raymond Homuth prior to moving into the Jamestown area in 1950. In Jamestown he worked for the Farmers Union Oil Co. and was a city employee for many years. Because of his love of the outdoors he moved his family to Minnesota in 1975, where he pursued his love of farming, gardening, and carpentry; while he spent his leisure time hunting, fishing and trapping. In 1993 his wife, Helen, died after an extended illness and Elmer later married Helen Kaliban and they made their home in Two Inlets, MN.
