Elmer Joseph Heim

Elmer Heim, 93, Edgeley, ND died at Jamestown Hospital on Friday, November 10, 2006.

Elmer Joseph Heim was born August 4, 1913 on the Heim family farm located in Pomona View Township near Edgeley, ND the son of Michael and Helen (Berger) Heim. He was raised on the farm and educated in the Pomona View Township school and graduated from Edgeley High School in 1932. He worked on the farm before entering the U. S. Army in 1942. Elmer was a member of the 803 Tank Destroyer Battalion. He served under the command of General George Patton, participated in the landing at Normandy, France and also the Battle of the Bulge. He was discharged in October, 1945. Elmer returned to Edgeley following his discharge where he farmed with his family all his life. He married June Nelissen at Transfiguration Catholic Church in Edgeley on June 16, 1984. They spent much of their time traveling to many countries and continents including China, South America, Australia and Europe. They also traveled to many of the states including Alaska and Hawaii. During the winter they have spent their time in Palm Springs, CA. June died September 11, 2005.
Survivors include 2 sisters, Marcella Schetter, Mountainaire, NM and Dolores Huber, Laguna Hills, CA and 1 brother, Alvin Heim, Thousand Palms, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 1 brother Clarence and 1 sister, Laura Heim Kipp.

Elmer was a member of Transfiguration Catholic Church, Edgeley, the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Farm Bureau and a member of the Pomona View Township Board.

Mass of Christian Burial: 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at Transfiguration Catholic Church, Edgeley, ND.
Visitation: Noon to 7:00 p.m. at the church on Tuesday.
Interment: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Edgeley, ND.
