Elmer Krein

June 13, 1939 — August 14, 2008

Elmer Krein, 69, Jamestown, ND, died Thursday, August 14, 2008 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown, ND following a long battle with cancer.

Elmer Krein was born June 13, 1939 on the family farm in LaMoure County, ND the son of Theodore and Rosie (Bollinger) Krein. He was raised on the family farm in both LaMoure and in Stutsman County and attended school at Nortonville and Millarton. After his schooling he worked for area farmers before entering the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to North Dakota, settling in Jamestown where he worked for Lindberg Construction, Moline Construction and American Contracting of Dickinson, ND while continuing to farm on the family farm in Stutsman County. After retiring in 2001, he continued to work as a handy man for individuals.

Elmer enjoyed collecting coins, John Deere toys and guns; hunting deer, turkey and gophers and playing pool. He continued to own the farm until the present and enjoyed working there.

Survivors include 2 daughters: Holly (Shilo) Ford, Jamestown, ND and Lynette Krein, Minneapolis, MN; 4 grandchildren; a special friend of 15 years, JoAnn Herrick, Jamestown; a brother, Marvin (Barb) Krein, Bismarck, ND and 3 sisters: Esther (Jim) Officer, Gwinner, ND; Della (Allen) Vollmer, Drake, ND and Carol (Gary) Ryum, Minot, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ronald.

Elmer was a member of the American Legion, the American Legion Color Guard, the American Legion Drum and Bugle Corp., the Frontier Village Wild West Players, and the Mixed Pool League. He was also a past member of the City and Country Pool League.

Funeral - 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 18, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church Jamestown, ND

Prayer Service - 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 17, 2008 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND

Visitation - Noon to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 17, 2008 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Interment - Sunset Memorial Garden, Jamestown, ND

Memorials - May be directed to the Roger Maris Research Fund, Fargo, ND.
