Elmer Morris

April 30, 1912 — June 8, 2006

Elmer Morris, 94, Jamestown, North Dakota died Thursday, June 8, 2006 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home in Jamestown.

Mr. Morris was born on April 30, 1912 in Crosby, North Dakota, the son of Zacharias and Anna (Oaland) Morris. He grew up on the family farm near Pettibone, North Dakota and received his education in Pettibone. He married Alice Mae Miller on December 19, 1934. They resided on the family farm until 1941 when they moved to White Bear Lake, MN where he worked for Waldorf Paper Mill. Alice died May 10, 1944 and then he moved back to Jamestown. Elmer married Katherine Hertel on January 10, 1945. He went to work for Northern Pacific Railroad and later at Northwestern Bell as a custodian and then as a fireman for the ND State Hospital. Katherine died June 16, 1960.

Elmer enjoyed living at the Gardenette in Jamestown for many years and later at Rock of Ages before becoming a resident of Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home. He enjoyed dancing, playing cards and fishing. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown.

Elmer is survived by his four daughters: Velma (Leroy) Roeske, Margaret (Paul) McBride, both of Jamestown, Dorothy (Stanley) Dockter, West Fargo, ND and June (John) Leddy, Vero Beach, FL; ten grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 2 step great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wives and one grandson, Roger Dockter.

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel in Jamestown with Pastor Dennis Ellingsen officiating.

Visitation: 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Monday, June 12, 2006 at Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown, North Dakota.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
