Elsie Hastings, 87, Jamestown, N.D. died Monday, July 29, 2002 at Hi-Acres Manor in Jamestown, N.D.
Elsie Kurtz was born August 21, 1914 in Lucca, N.D., the daughter of Edward and Louise (Lanska) Kurtz. The family moved to a farm near Spiritwood and then a farm in Winfield Township, near Ypsilanti, N.D. She grew up and received her education in Winfield Township Country Schools.
Elsie married Don Hastings on March 30, 1935 in Jamestown, N.D. They made their home on a farm near Ypsilanti, N.D. In 1981, they moved to Jamestown where Elsie's home has been since.
Elsie was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown and Winfield Homemaker Club. She enjoyed gardening and cooking.
Elsie is survived by eight children, Betty (Gordon) Roach, of Jamestown, N.D.; Edward (Marlys) Hastings, of Prescott, AZ; Gary (Betty) Hastings, of Bismarck, N.D.; David (Sherry) Hastings, of Appleton, MN; Jim (Diane) Hastings, of Jamestown, N.D.; Gerald (Kathy) Hastings, of Jamestown, N.D.; Donna (Jonathon) Geiger, of Winnipeg, Canada; Diane Hastings, of Jamestown, N.D.; 21 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; two sisters, Erna Radtke, of Jamestown, N.D.; and Evelyn Oberlander, of Jamestown, N.D. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son (Donald Richard), three brothers, two sisters, and one half sister.
Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. - Thursday, August 1, 2002 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown, N.D., with Rev. Dennis Ellingsen officiating.
Prayer Service: 7:30 P.M. - Wednesday, July 31, 2002 at Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, N.D.
Visitation: Wednesday, July 31, 2002 1:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Eddy Funeral Home - Jamestown, N.D.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery - Jamestown, N.D.
