Elsie Paulina Rosina Hauf, 95, of Jamestown, ND died Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Eventide at Hi Acres Manor, Jamestown.
Elsie was born in Harrold, South Dakota on August 26, 1922. Delivered by midwife in her parents’ home. She is an only child. Born, raised, and graduated in Harrold. She then lived and worked in Rapid City, South Dakota. That is where she met the love of her life, Walter Hauf. She moved to North Dakota and got married May 11, 1956. Three years later, a daughter, Elaine, came into their life. They lived in Woodworth where she was a Sunday School teacher. They moved to Medina where she was a housewife and babysat for several families in town.
Elise was a very loving mom, loved to read, canned, and danced to Polka music in the living room. She also enjoyed entering her embroidery in the fair. She won several blue ribbons. Her specialty was baking her Aunt Sally’s cookies for her family as Christmas time. Elsie moved to the Gardenette in Jamestown, made friends and found a wonderful church family at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. After a few health issues, she moved to Eventide, then to Rock of Ages, and then back to Eventide where she spent her last days.
She is survived by her daughter; Elaine (Myron) Kuske, grandchild; Paulina (Tory) Kuske, two great grandchildren; Bently and Marley, honorary son; Tom Ravely, honorary daughter; Nikki, sisters-in-law; Gertrude Neumiller and Frieda Haus, aunt; Naomi Meyer, nieces; Carol (Lonnie) Brakel, Jennie (Tim) Walker, and Julie (David) Sachse, nephew; Dandy (Carol) Hauf, honorary grandchildren; Nathan Ahner, Shania Rickford, Sherry Rosenau, Cory Wegleitner, Traci Rinehart, Kristi Anderson, Kyle Wegleitner, Courteney and Carly Kelstrom and several grand nieces and nephew, whom she loved as well, Godchildren; Eric Steven, Mike Heintz, and Laurie Waldner.
Elsie is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Walter Hauf, nephews; Adam Hauf, Doug Neumiller, and niece, Polly Neuimiller.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Lucinda Lien Officiating.
Visitation: 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday, November 3, 2017 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Interment: Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Medina Cemetery, Medina, ND.
