Elsie Junkert, 92, Jamestown, North Dakota died Monday, May 19, 2003 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home, Jamestown. Elsie Kungel was born January 11, 1911 in Bessarabia, South Russia the daughter of Andreas and Katie (Bohnet) Kungel. She came to the United States in 1911 with her parents. Elsie received her education in Kulm, North Dakota. She married Gottlob Junkert on June 30, 1931 in Kulm. They moved south of Kulm where they farmed. In 1956 they moved to Jamestown. She worked at the North Dakota State Hospital as a psychiatric aide until 1975. Gottlob died in 1979. Elsie also provided in-home adult foster care from 1969 to 2001.
She enjoyed cooking, watching T.V., visiting with her friends and taking care of others.
Elsie is survived by her son, Rueben (Lillian) Junkert, Jamestown, 2 granddaughters, Charlene (Jeff) Briner, Rosemount, MN and Pam (Verlyn) Feigert, Jamestown, five great grandchildren, two great-great grandsons, three sisters, Ida (Walter) Stotz, Aberdeen, SD; Viola (Ray) Flemmer, Hemet, CA and LuAlla (Wilbert) Wolfe, Mesa, AZ and one brother, Richard (Delia) Kungel, Kulm, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Thursday, May 22, 2003 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Jamestown, ND.
Prayer Service: 7:30 PM, Wednesday, May 21, 2003 at Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Visitation: 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Wednesday, May 21, 2003, Eddy Funeral Home.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, North Dakota.
