Emil Geisler, 84, Jamestown, North Dakota died Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at Jamestown Hospital, Jamestown.
Emil was born September 26, 1919 in Kulm, North Dakota the son of John and Fredaricka (Walz) Geiszler. Emil grew and attended school in the Kulm area and helped his father on the farm until 1939 when he went into the CCC for six months. He joined the US Army on March 25, 1942 and served in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. Upon his discharge in October 1945 Emil came back to North Dakota and worked for several farmers. Emil married Elsie Wanner, from Eureka, South Dakota on February 14, 1948 in Aberdeen, SD. They lived and worked in Aberdeen until 1953 when they moved to Minneapolis, MN. They stayed in Minneapolis for 18 years until 1970 when they moved back to Jamestown. Emil worked for R.M. Stoudt Ford for 2 years and Haybusters for 3 years. In 1975 they moved to Edgeley, ND for three years, then a move took them to Merricourt, ND where he worked for four years for Dickey County. Emil was mayor of Merricourt for ten years. Upon retirement in 1995 they moved back to Jamestown where they have lived ever since.
Emil is survived by his wife, Elsie of Jamestown, one daughter, Ella (Robert) Syverson, Jamestown, four grandsons, eleven great-grandchildren, and three sisters, Violet (Lawrence) Rienbold, Aberdeen, SD; Deloris Quiggley, Minneapolis, MN and Rose Middelstead, Jamestown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Edward, five brothers, Enock, Richard, Herbert, Christ and Edwin, one sister, Edna and two granddaughters, Penny Syverson and Dawn Broich.
Funeral Service: 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 29, 2004 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bryce Tahran officiating.
Visitation: 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Friday, May 28, 2004 at the Eddy Funeral Home.
Burial: Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
