Emil Heier, 89, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Thursday, January 17, 2008 at Jamestown Hospital.
Emil was born April 5, 1918 near Alfred, ND, the son of Emmanuel and Christine (Kalmbach) Heier. He grew up and attended rural schools in the Alfred area. On February 25, 1942 Emil entered the US Army at Ft. Snelling, MN. He served his country in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. Upon his honorable discharge on December 27, 1945 he returned to North Dakota. On November 23, 1953 Emil married Agusta Wenzel in Windsor, ND. They farmed southwest of Jamestown until 1976 when he retired.
Emil was a ""jack of all trades"" and he especially liked small engine repair, plumbing and wiring and working in his garden.
Emil is survived by his wife, Agusta, of Jamestown; two daughters, Vivian Heier (Gary Leean), Jamestown and Angie (David) Iverson, Faribault, MN; one granddaughter ,Alicia Iverson; and three sisters, Esther Marker, Montpelier, ND, Mary Spangler and Leona (Harold) Squire, both of Eugene, OR.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Emanuel, John, Jake and Sam; and one sister, Martha Suko.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Monday, January 21, 2008 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown with Pastor Bryce Tahran officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, January 20, 2008 at the Eddy Funeral Home.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, North Dakota.
