Emil H. Trautman, 89, Jamestown, North Dakota, formerly of Cleveland, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003 in his home. Emil was born January 23, 1914 on the family homestead north of Cleveland, North Dakota the son of Henry and Wilhemina (Lutz) Trautman. He attended school at the Valley Springs School. He was raised on the family homestead where Emil and his father farmed for many years. Emil and Martha Moser were married in Medina, ND, on May 31, 1941 and they celebrated their 62nd anniversary this year. When Emil retired from farming they moved to Cleveland and Emil began a 38 year career with the Cleveland Water & Sewer Maintenance Department. He also enjoyed his many years as assessor and treasurer for the Valley Springs Township and the many years he sat on the election board. Emil and Martha moved to Jamestown in May 2000.
He was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ, Medina, North Dakota and a life long member of the BPO Elks 995 in Jamestown.
Emil loved to play pinochle with his family and friends. He was well respected for his honesty, hard work and willingness to help anyone that asked. He will be missed by many.
Emil is survived by his wife of 62 years, Martha, one son, Victor (Kathleen Rittenbach) Trautman, Petersburg, AK, one daughter, Paulette (Terry) Reule, Dickinson, ND, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Leo Bollinger, Jamestown and sisters-in-law Leona Trautman, Jamestown and Arlene Trautman, Fergus Falls, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and one sister.
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Friday, June 13, 2003 at Zion United Church of Christ, Medina, North Dakota with Rev. Karl Limvere officiating.
Visitation: 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Thursday, June 12, 2003 at Eddy Funeral Home.
Burial: Medina Cemetery, Medina, North Dakota.
The family suggests memorials to the Jamestown Hospice Foundation, Jamestown, ND.
