Emma Isabelle (Stroh) George, 83, of Jamestown, ND, died Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home, Jamestown.
Emma George was born April 24, 1925 in Tappen, ND, the daughter of Jacob and Eva (Miller) Stroh. She grew up on a farm and attended country school near Tappen. She married Christ George on May 6, 1947 in Steele, ND. They lived in Tappen and moved to Jamestown. Christ died on September 3, 1981. She continued to live in Jamestown and entered Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home in 2004.
Emma enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Hoekstra, Fargo, ND, and Connie (Donald) Harshman, Jamestown; three sons, Bob (Vicky) George, Duane (Diane) George and Jerome (Lois) George, all of Jamestown; eight grandchildren, Christa Hoekstra, Lisa (Josh) Hennager, both of Fargo, Lanny George, Jason George, Julie George, Terry George, all Jamestown, Alicia (Brandon) Bata, Oakes, ND, and Kayla George, Jamestown; five great-grandchildren, Gavin VanHecke, Fargo, Austin Miller, Jayme George, Caitlin George, Allison George, all of Jamestown; two sisters-in-law, LaVern Stroh, Bismarck, ND and Lorraine Oster, Fargo; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Gary George; eight brothers, (one in infancy), John, Edward, Fred, August, Jake, Adolph, and Rudolph; and three sisters, Mary (Jake) Kemmet, Katie (Jake) Lang and Leona (August) George.
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Friday, October 24, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Leon Zavadil officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, October 23, 2008 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
