Emma L. Hillius, 87, Medina, North Dakota died Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home in Jamestown.

Emma Schatz was born October 28, 1920 in Medina, North Dakota, the daughter of Christ and Rose (Reister) Schatz. She grew up in the Medina area and attended rural schools. On October 2, 1938 Emma married Theodore Hillius, Jr. in Medina. They farmed south of Medina until 1977 when they retired and moved into Medina.

Emma enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, quilting and was especially known for her clean home and delicious canned pickles. She always looked forward for the grandkids and great-grandkids to stop and see her and she always had a treat for them.

Emma is survived by three daughters, Shirley (George) Newbury, Minot, ND, Eloise (James) Kleven, Medina, ND, Shelly (Michael) Fercho, Streeter, ND; two sons, Stanley (Marjorie) Hillius, Kearney, NE and Arlen (Irene) Hillius, Medina, ND; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Reidlinger, Linton, ND; and two sisters-in-law, Helen Hillius, Jamestown and Erna (Joe) Gross, Cedar Rapids, MI.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two children, Jay Steven and Bonnie Lou; two brothers; and four sisters.

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Monday, August 4, 2008 at Zion United Methodist, Medina, ND with Pastor Darwin Kopfmann officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 7:30 PM, Sunday, August 3, 2008 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.

Prayer Service: 7:30 PM, August 3, 2008 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.

Burial: Medina Cemetery, Medina, North Dakota.
