Emma Hordetckey, 90, of Moorhead, MN died Friday, August 1, 2003 at Merticare Medical Center, Fargo, North Dakota.
Emma Buckey was born January 16, 1913 the daughter of Prokof and Donia (Hussler) Buckey in Logan County near Fredonia, ND. She grew up and attended school in the Fredonia area. Emma married Harry Hordetckey on September 2, 1933 in LaMoure County. They continued to farm in the area until his death on July 5, 1947. Emma moved to Jamestown where she worked for several restaurants, including the Jamestown College Grill and also owning and operating the Hamburger Inn.
Emma was devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, playing a very special role in everyone's life. (Mother, we Love you and will miss you forever.)
Emma spent numerous late nights' playing cards, board games, bingo, and socializing with her friends. She was known for her competitive game playing spirit. Her second love was cooking German dishes and baking for her family and friends.
Emma is survived by two daughters, Eileen (Bob) Narveson of Fargo, ND and Shirley (Russell) Leysring of Jamestown, ND; six grandchildren, Bob (Stephanie) Narveson of Elk River, MN, Sherry (David) Delair of Detroit Lakes, MN, Dan (Caroline) Narveson of Fargo, ND, Tony (Darcy) Leysring of Fargo, ND, Angie (Jay) Thorsness of Huron, SD, and Cindy (Alan) Cooper of Moorhead, MN; and eleven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two sons, Leo and Floyd Hordetckey.
Funeral Service: 11:00AM Tuesday, August 5, 2003 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel with Sister Michaeleen Jantzer officiating.
Visitation: Monday, August 4, 2003 from 9:00 AM to 9:00PM at the Eddy Funeral Home.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota
