Emma G. Krein

Emma G. Krein, 97, Jamestown, North Dakota died Monday, September 11, 2006 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home in Jamestown.

Emma Krueger was born October 24, 1908, in McClusky, ND, the daughter of Christian and Mary Elizabeth (Kleim) Krueger. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school. She graduated from high school in 1928, she attended nursing school in Chamberlain, South Dakota and earned her R.N. degree in 1931. She worked as a registered nurse at the North Dakota State Hospital in Jamestown. She married Jacob W. Krein on September 28, 1931 in Valley City, ND. During the 1940's, the family lived in Oregon, Idaho, and Kansas, while her husband worked as a plumber for the government. They returned to North Dakota and farmed in the Walter and Eldridge Townships, near Jamestown, until 1972 when they retired. They moved to Lincoln, NE, and returned to Jamestown 15 years later.

Emma is a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church - Jamestown. She enjoyed people, reading, and sewing. For many years she cooked and baked for family and threshers. She especially enjoyed making German food. She enjoyed living at the Heritage Center because of all the action and the large indoor area to walk and visit.

Emma is survived by five children, Donald (Wanda) Krein, of Portland, OR; Bob (Nora) Krein, of Gentry, AR; Marilyn (Jim) Rexin, of Jamestown, ND; Charleen (Roland) Leavitt, of Lincoln, NE; Bill (Linda) Krein, of Lincoln, NE; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one brother, Walter Krueger, of Richland, WA; and a sister-in-law, Ida Krein, of Jamestown, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, six sisters, and four brothers.

Funeral Service: 10:00AM, Friday, September 15, 2006 at Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, with Pastor David Stuart officiating.

Visitation: Thursday, September 14, 2006 from 1:00PM to 8:00PM at Eddy Funeral Home.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
