Erma Koves Fredrickson, 96, Valley City, North Dakota, formerly of Kensal, North Dakota, died Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City.
Erma Clara Koves was born July 19, 1912 at Kensal, ND, the third of five children born to Rudolph and Elizabeth (Faehnrich) Koves. She was raised and attended country school in Lions township, southwest of Kensal. Erma graduated from Kensal High School in 1931 and attended Valley City Teachers College, where she received her teaching certificate. She taught in a rural school in western Stutsman County.
In November of 1932 Erma married Theodore ""Ted"" Fredrickson and farmed in the Kensal area. In 1976 after Ted passed away she moved into Kensal. She later moved to Jamestown where she resided until she moved to Bridgeview Estates in Valley City in 2002.
Erma is survived by three daughters, Joyce (Keith) DeVillers, Wahpeton, ND, Shirley Briss, Payson, AZ, and Karen (Ken) Witt, Watertown, SD; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and three sisters-in-law, June Knutson, Jamestown, Clara Lee, Fargo, ND and Lorraine Schroeder, Carrington, ND.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three sisters; one brother; and son-in-law, Eugene Briss.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Saturday, May 9, 2009 at the United Methodist Church, Kensal, with Pastor Jeff Levy officiating.
Visitation: 3:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday, May 8, 2009 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.
Burial: Kensal Cemetery, Kensal, North Dakota
