Erna C Buchholz

Erna C. Buchholz, age 96, went to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, October 1st at the Ave Marie Nursing Home where she had been a resident for the past seventeen months. Erna passed away from natural causes after living a long and full life.

Erna was born on October 12, 1920 in Lehr, North Dakota the daughter of Jacob and Emelia (Gohl) George. She grew up in the Lehr area and attended school through 8th

grade. Erna married Arthur Buchholz on November 30, 1941 at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Lehr, North Dakota. Erna and Art farmed in the Lehr / Ashley area from 1941 until 1962 when they moved to Jamestown, North Dakota. Erna spent time working at the Anne Carlson Center for Children, but she spent the bulk of her years working for Social Services as a homemaker. She retired from there in 1988.

Erna liked to cook, embroider, and quilt and was always ready to entertain guests when they stopped by. She was also active in her church until she was unable to drive.

Erna is survived by her four children, Sally (LeRoy) Walker, Bismarck, ND, Ronald (Judy) Buchholz, Jamestown, ND, Marsha (Steven) Baisch, Chaska, MN, and Roedell (DeNae) Buchholz, Fresno, CA; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; one sister, Irene Rivinius, and one brother, Marvin George.

Her husband, Arthur, her parents, and two sisters, Mary and Martha, preceded her in death.

Celebration of Life Service: 10:30, Thursday, October 5, 2017 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Jamestown, ND.

Visitation: 12:00 – 5:00 PM, with the family receiving guests from 5:00 PM– 7:00 PM at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, ND
