Erna Elhard

Erna Elhard, 94, of Bismarck, ND died on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at her daughter, Eileen Elhard’s home in Bismarck.

Erna Elhard was born in Früstanu East Prussia of East Germany January 27 1924. The daughter of Herman and Pauline Rausch-Kinsel. Erna received her education in East Prusssia Königsberg East Prussia. She went to Trade School to be a florist and in 1945 she and her parents moved to Landsberg, where for a short time worked in a florist shop there. On May 6, 1950 she married Epharim Elhard in Erding Germany. In August of that year they returned to the US and made their home in Jamestown ND. In 1963 Erna was employed at the Trinity hospital in the food service department until 1966, and in 1984 she retired from the state hospital. Erna was a member of the Congregational Church in Jamestown ND.

Erna was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, her husband of 50 years, Epharim Elhard, and one daughter Elaine Elhard Tesky.

She is survived by her children, Edwin Elhard (Fiancée Christine Brien) of East Greenwich RI, Eileen Elhard of Bismarck ND, Ellen Elhard of Bozeman MT, and son-in-law Ernest Tesky of Stockbridge, GA. Her Grand Children, Corinne Tesky Schmoker (Todd) Pingree ND, Jeramie Tesky Jamestown ND, Jessica Elhard St. Paul, MN, Nicole Recksiek (Jared) Salt Lake City, UT. Great-Grand Children, Danielle Schmoker, Dickey ND, Samantha Schmoker Pingree ND, Jacob, Allison, Annabel, and Jonas Tesky of Texas.

Funeral Service: 2:30 PM, Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at 1st Congregational United Church of Christ with Chaplain Lori Lundberg officiating.

Visitation: 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM, Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at the church.

Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, North Dakota.
