VALLEY CITY, N.D. – Ernest Miner, 92, died Saturday morning, Nov 14, from COVID-19 virus. His last residence was Sheyenne Care Center, Valley City, N.D.,
Ernest Miner was born in Ypsilanti, N.D. to Gilbert and Mary (Rettish). He was the youngest of five children with four sisters. His childhood was spent farming, attending school, and learning to work. At age 23, Ernest was drafted into the army to serve in the Korean conflict, where his job was a truck driver and mechanic. He would use these skills after returning home on the farm and helping many in his community. Ernest married the love of his life, Diane Brown, in 1965. He farmed 320 acres at his home in Ypsilanti for most of his life. He later served as a school bus driver and mechanic for Montpelier schools. He was a generous man, active in his church, and always happy to serve and help others.
He is survived by his daughter Constance Miner, and his step-son Terry Homburg, step-daughter Irene Ferren and sister, Florence. Preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and three sisters, Eldina, Ida, and Bertha.
A private family funeral will be held Thursday, November 19, at 2:00 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Jamestown. N.D. Masks are required. A livestream of the service will be available on the Eddy Funeral Home website. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown.
