Ernest R. Williams

Ernest R. “Bob” Williams, 91, of Jamestown, ND, passed away Monday evening, April 10, 2017 at his home.

Ernest Robertson Williams was born September 23, 1925, on the Williams Co. farm in Cusator Township, south of Cleveland, ND, the second son of George A. and Helen (Robertson) Williams. He attended school in Sinclair Township and developed a strong work ethic on his parents’ farm. While being an active 4-H member he met and married Violet Mae Wegner on October 19, 1947 at the Alfred Congregational Church, Alfred, ND. They made their home on a farm south of Cleveland where they milked cows, raised Shorthorn cattle and small grains. They moved to Cleveland in 1986 and were caretakers with Alpha Opportunities. Later, Bob enjoyed working at the Prairie Oasis café in Cleveland.

Bob served on the Cleveland School Board and Sinclair Township Board. He was an active member of the Cleveland United Methodist Church and served on the board. He truly loved his Lord and was a servant of His. Bob was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan.

Bob is survived by his wife, Violet Mae Williams, Jamestown; son, Ernie E. Williams, Jamestown, daughter Patricia (Dean) Jensen, Jamestown; daughter, Connie (Russ) Henne, Oakes, ND, son, Timothy Williams, Jamestown; daughter, Joyce (Greg) Anderson, Yankton, SD; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, George P. (Lorraine) Williams, Cleveland, ND; sister, Kay (Norman) Aldinger, Jamestown; Roger (Jolana) Williams, Chelsea, OK; sister, Robina “Tiny” (Alvin) Exner, Ypsilanti, ND; brother-in-law, Reinhardt Weixel; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jamar Dillard; daughter-in-law, Mona Williams; brothers, Almon (Deloris) Williams, Wilbert (Marge) Williams, James “Tuff” Williams, and a brother in infancy; sisters, Harriet (Elroy) Weixel and Margaret Weixel.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 15, 2017 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Joel Winckler officiating.

Visitation: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 14, 2017 at Williams Funeral Home, Jamestown and an hour before the service at the church.

Interment: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.
