Esther A. Dean

Esther Amelia (Murch) Dean died Saturday, August 7, 2010, at Oak Crossing Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.

Esther was born to Alice (Keller) and Sidney Murch, Sr., near Arthur, ND, on October 1, 1928, and grew up in Jamestown, ND, where she married and had a family. She worked as a nurse’s aide at the Jamestown Hospital, the North Dakota State Hospital in Jamestown, and was also a daycare provider. She lived for a time in Laurel, MT, Clearwater, MN, and recently spent winters in Nevada, MO. She enjoyed gardening and traveling to visit family.

Esther is survived by her six children: Richard (Terry) Dean, Whitehall, OH, Connie (Lynn) Anderson, Nevada, MO, Diana Enzminger, Jamestown; Byron (Denise) Dean, Billings, MT, Debbie (Jim) Martens, Billings, MT; and Bruce (Wendi) Dean, Jamestown; as well as her siblings: brother, Everett (Marcella) Murch, Jamestown, step-brother DuWayne (JoAnn) Perry, Bumpass, VA., and sisters, June Winings of Detroit Lakes, MN; Joyce Telkin of Starke, FL; Yvonne (Earling) Sevik, Grand Junction, CO; Cel (Bernard) Sundeen, Cleveland, ND; Phyllis (Ed) Hodgson, Roosevelt, MN; Ardell Goff, Jamestown; and Leona Wilson, Fargo, ND. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Esther’s grandchildren Jon Fairfield and Jacci Fairfield Baker and great-grandson Jacob Baker all reside near Jamestown.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Sidney Jr. and Ernie; sister Betty; stepmother, Edna (Schumacher) Perry Murch; and a stepsister Annabel (Perry) Church.
