Esther Marker

Esther Marker, 88, Montpelier, ND, died Sunday, April 27, 2008 at the home of her daughter in Bismarck, ND.
Esther Heier was born February 11, 1920 on the family farm near Alfred, ND, the daughter of Emanuel and Christina (Kalmbach) Heier. She grew up and attended school near Alfred, ND. After her schooling, she worked on the family farm with her brothers. She later worked as a housekeeper in Minneapolis for a short time. On December 19, 1953, she married Charles Marker in Jamestown, ND; they settled on the Marker family farm near Montpelier, ND. In 1980 Esther and Charles moved to Wadena, MN where they continued to farm. Esther was a hard working farm wife, homemaker and mother. Upon retiring from farming, Esther pursued her interest in caring for others by becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Esther worked as a home health care provider in Minneapolis, MN. After Charles died on June 27, 1992, Esther returned to the family farm near Montpelier, ND. She retired in 1998.
Esther loved cooking, baking, canning, gardening and especially caring for and doing things for others.
Survivors include her 2 children: Jon (Gloria) Marker, Montpelier, ND; Jan (Dennis) Greenstein, Bismarck, ND; 6 grandchildren: Angela (Tom) Oakland, Grand Forks, ND; Andy Greenstein, Bismarck, ND; Kristen Greenstein, Bismarck, ND; Chelsea Marker, Grand Forks, ND; Casey Marker, Montpelier, ND; Chase Marker, Montpelier, ND and 2 sisters: Leona (Harold) Squires, Eugene, OR and Mary Spangler, Eugene, OR.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Martha; 5 brothers: Emanuel, Sam, Jake, Emil, John and 2 infant brothers.
Funeral Service - 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND with Reverend Roger Will officiating
Prayer Service - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND
Visitation - 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2008 and 1 hour prior to services on Wednesday at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND
Interment - Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, ND
