Esther Suko Ross, 86, Jamestown, North Dakota died Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at Central Dakota Village in Jamestown.
Esther Alice Martel was born July 28, 1921 in St. Paul Township, near Medina, ND, to Christian and Elizabeth (Klein) Martel, the sixth of ten children.
In 1944, she moved to the Sacramento, CA area, where on April 20 she married Sgt. Emil Suko, USMC, of Jamestown. Their son, Steven, was born in 1953. Esther worked for JC Penney, the Hobby Shop and Family Planning. Emil died May 27, 1971. On June 20, 1975, Esther married Drougott Ross. The couple made their home in Medina.
Esther is survived by her husband,; son, Steven (Roselyn) Suko, Jamestown; granddaughter, Allison Suko, Jamestown; grandson, Tom Suko, West Fargo, ND; two stepdaughters, Barb Bledsoe, Omaha, NE and Linda Meadows, Dickinson, ND; four step-grandchildren; two brothers, Herb (Elaine) Martel, Medina, and Marvin (Irene) Martel, West Fargo; three sisters, Freida Eissinger, Medina, Lurene Jackson and Arlene Kemp, both of Minneapolis, MN and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband; two brothers, Reinhold and Rudolph and two sisters, Lydia Bitterman and Helen Boettcher.
Memorial Service: 3:00 PM, Saturday, January 5, 2008 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel in Jamestown with Pastor Karl Limvere officiating.
No visitation is scheduled.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, ND.
