Esther Zimmerman

Esther Zimmerman, 86, Jamestown, North Dakota died Sunday, August 24, 2003 at Central Dakota Village, Jamestown. Esther Herr was born July 23, 1917 in Wishek, North Dakota the daughter of Christian and Katherina (Meidinger) Herr. She was raised and educated in Wishek. On July 14, 1938 Esther married John K. Zimmerman in Wishek. They farmed south of Lehr, ND for 19 years. They moved to Jamestown in 1959 where she worked at various jobs. She worked and later retired from her housekeeping position at Jamestown Hospital. Her husband, John, died March 4, 2000. Esther entered Central Dakota Village in 2001. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Jamestown. Esther enjoyed cooking, decorating and flowers. One of the greatest joys in her life were her children, in which she took great pride. She had a strong faith and belief in God as her personal Saviour.

Esther is survived by one son, Roger Zimmerman, Fort Smith, AK; three daughters, Nancy Schauer, Ramsey, MN, Rachel (Paul) Messmer, Jamestown & Bordulac, ND and Vanessa (John) Englebrecht, Jamestown; 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Rose Grandbois of Alexandria, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant daughter, a daughter-in-law, Pearl Zimmerman, a son-in-law, Jack Schauer, 2 grandchildren, 9 brothers and 3 sisters.

Funeral Service: 1:30 PM, Wednesday, August 27, 2003 at First Baptist Church, Jamestown with Pastor Scott Avans officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 9:00 PM, Tuesday, August 26, 2003 at Eddy Funeral Home.

Prayer Service: 8:30 PM, Tuesday, August 26, 2003 at Eddy Funeral Chapel.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, North Dakota.
