Ethel Gainsforth Burry, 82, Jamestown, North Dakota , died Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home in Jamestown.

Ethel Hawkins was born September 15, 1924 in Hurdsfield, ND, the daughter of John W. and Anna Belle (Weed) Hawkins. She was raised and attended school in the Hurdsfield area. After school she moved to Jamestown and married Arthur Gainsforth. Ethel was the manager of the café at the White Drug in Jamestown. She then owned and operated Art & Ethel's Café with her husband, Art Gainsforth. Ethel continued her education taking classes to become a registered dietician. She was employed as a dietician at Jamestown Hospital for many years. Upon Art's death, Ethel moved to Nebraska and married Roy Burry. They later returned to Jamestown. Ethel moved to the Gardenette after Roy died, and later to Hi-Acres Manor where she resided until her death.

Ethel enjoyed gardening, fishing and traveling.

Ethel is survived by two nieces, JoAnn (Tim) Klose, Jamestown and Linda Rorman, Mandan, ND; one nephew, Tom (Vickie) Steckler, Jamestown; many other nieces and nephews; one great-great nephew and one great-great niece.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; one daugher, Judy; a son in infancy; five sisters and four brothers.

Memorial Service: 3:00 PM, Friday, June 1, 2007 at the Hi-Acres Memorial Chapel, Jamestown with Chaplain David Fisher officiating.

No visitation is scheduled.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, ND.
