Ethel Morris, 96, formerly of Woodworth, North Dakota died Sunday, August 29, 2004 at Golden Acres Manor in Carrington, North Dakota.
Ethel Lestine Jones was born April 23, 1908 in rural Vashti, North Dakota the daughter of Ancil and Emma (Davies) Jones. Ethel went through grade school in the Hebron School near Sykeston, ND and in the surrounding area. At an early age, Ethel began writing poetry and had several of her poems published. She loved children and did a lot of babysitting. She also made rag dolls for children, sewing them by hand, and Barbie Doll clothes.
Ethel was united in marriage to Hiram Morris at the United Methodist Church in Carrington on March 18, 1931. They moved to Wisconsin shortly after their marriage and lived there for three years where their son, Clyde, was born. They moved back to North Dakota and lived on several farms before moving into Woodworth.
Ethel was a member of the New Home Seventh Day Adventist Church.
She is survived by her son, Clyde (Linda) Morris, Missoula, MT, one grandson, Leslie Thomas Morris, Montana, three sisters, Agnes Bierdeman, Fargo, ND; Marie Laurie, Sedro Woolley, WA and Annie Watkins, Round Rock, TX.
Ehtel was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers, Lee, Howard, Clayton, Fred and Billy and five sisters, Opal, Bessie, Sarah, Fern and Verna.
Funeral Service: Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at 10:00 AM at New Home Seventh Day Adventist Church, Sykeston, North Dakota with Pastor Kurt Stryon, officiating.
Visitation: Wednesday, September 1, 2004 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at New Home Seventh Day Adventist Church, Sykeston, North Dakota.
Burial: Gem Cemetery, Woodworth, North Dakota.
